THIS ON THURSDAY

Hi Reader,
You know the feeling.
Your life, on paper, looks fine. But something has gone flat. The routine has gone gray. You're tired in a way that sleep doesn't fix. You find yourself scrolling at night, wondering what's wrong with you, why you can't just appreciate what you have.
It can feel like a personal failing. I should be more grateful. I just need more rest. Better self-care. A vacation.
Sometimes that's true. But often, it isn't.
Often, the flatness is telling you something else entirely. It's telling you that you're craving a brave act.
We tend to have a narrow definition of bravery. We think of it as dealing in a crisis, or our response to having our backs against the wall. But bravery is also something that keeps us growing, advancing, feeling alive and pushing our own boundaries toward what and who we really want to be.
Going too long without doing anything brave is a recipe for losing our spark.
Jumping off that cliff into the quarry may no longer be on our radar. But striking out in a new direction, contacting that person from our past, or taking that leap of faith may be.
That's what this week's piece on the blog is about: the bravery no one talks about in midlife. Not the loud, leap-into-the-void kind. The kind that actually shows up at this stage of life, the bravery of leaving, of beginning, of staying, of telling the truth.
I think it might be one of the most useful pieces I've written.

The bravery in midlife is rarely what we expect. But it's almost always what we need.
